Big Baby Bump

Comments from strangers like "Twins?" or "You must be due any day now" are a common occurrence these days. When it comes to my growing bump, it seems like the world around me has lost its filter. I love my growing belly, but inconsiderate comments can start to make a pregnant lady worry that something is wrong. My midwife says women carrying their second baby may show earlier and carry larger. She has also assured me there is nothing to be concerned about, my baby and I are both healthy.

While I do have to dodge some unwanted remarks, the sight of my big bump also seems to bring out the kindness in people. Everyone smiles at me and strangers will go out of their way to hold doors open for me. Pregnancy is a miracle that should be celebrated and I am loving all the perks.

What pregnant women really need to hear is something that will boost their confidence. Next time you see a pregnant woman and you feel compelled to comment on her belly please limit your comments to "You look beautiful!" "You're going to be a great mother" or my favourite, "I brought you a treat!"
