We have decided that once again, we are going to keep our baby's gender a surprise. When I tell people I won't be finding out the sex, I usually get a "Good for you!" or " I could never do that, I'm too much of a planner." While I do believe it's one of life's greatest surprises, I'll never get to throw a gender reveal party. There are some cons to choosing team green, but it also has some pretty awesome perks. For me, it really allows me to bond with my baby's spirit and it makes the last few weeks of pregnancy bearable. I love to post a baby pool on my fridge and have everyone guess if we're having a boy or a girl. My husband loved running out to the hospital waiting room to tell our family that we welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Henry Peter, into the world. He is really looking forward to announcing "It's a _____!" again. It's fun to explore both sides of our Baby Names book and use wacky old wives' tales to predict the gender.
Team green isn't for everyone. Some people would never consider it, some are forced into it because their baby is uncooperative on ultrasound day and some are team green for every pregnancy. Whether you find out at 20 weeks or 40 weeks, it's an exciting and life changing experience. For us, taking the old-fashioned route is fun and a wonderful surprise that is worth the wait. I can't wait to experience it again soon.
