Working Mom vs Stay-At-Home Mom

New hairdo.

New outfit.

Homemade freezer meals.

Chore schedule posted on the refrigerator.

Extra baby snuggles.

The bliss of maternity leave is over. I've read the "Working Mom Survival Guide" and I'm prepared to return to the radio station. Mark your calendars, folks. This mama will be back on the air on 101.9 DAWG FM starting December 2nd. Tune in! I'll be hosting "More Music Mornings" Monday to Friday, 6AM-9AM. Many would disagree, but working early in the morning does have its benefits. Sure, I have to wake up at 4AM, but the good news is, I get to have it all. I get to be a career woman and a stay-at-home mom. I get to do a job I love, help provide for my family and be a good role model to Henry. Meanwhile, I also get to spend most of my day with Henry.

Mama guilt did set in when I realized I will be at work for two of Henry's waking hours. It's important to me to spend my days with Henry, teaching him new skills and showing him affection. It got me thinking...

Can I enjoy my cool job and still be a really good mom?

Can I wear high heels and a baby carrier?

Can I groove to the blues on DAWG FM in the morning and Raffi in the afternoon?

The answer is...hell yeah! It's all about balance and I'm going to thrive in both worlds. I might just need a couple of these...

The red cups have arrived!
To help ease my anxiety at work, I'm going to place a picture of Henry in my studio. I already know I'm going to miss feeding him breakfast every morning, so I have a plan in place to make it up to him on weekends. Pancake Saturday is going to be awesome (and yes, I plan on making said pancakes into smiley faces with blueberries). I'm shedding the guilt and embracing the big changes headed our way. I am both a mother and a radio announcer and life is great.
