Gone Camping

My cheeks are sun kissed, my sweatshirt smells like campfire and my heart is happy. We took Henry on his first overnight camping trip to Silver Lake Provincial Park this weekend. Mike and I have done a lot of camping together, but that was life pre-baby and we didn't know what to expect.

A friend of mine called me brave for taking a baby camping, but it did us a lot of good. It wasn't a long stay, but the fresh air and a night under the stars was rejuvenating. I'll admit, it was work, but being in nature always helps us to unwind. Silver Lake is known for its sandy beach and my little nature boy found the golden grit so fascinating all he wanted to do was eat it. When Henry took his afternoon nap in the tent, Mike and I sat at the picnic table and played cards. Our family of three really enjoyed Mother Nature's playground. We did it all; swimming, hiking and roasting hotdogs over the campfire.

Someone is about to crawl any day now...
We do camping right! Yum!

S'mores? You bet! I toasted those marshmallows to perfection.

I loved falling asleep to a symphony of bullfrogs and crickets and waking up to a nice cool breeze was a great way to start the day.

Good morning sleepy head!
We brought Henry's Pack n' Play, but he ended up sleeping with us because I worried he would get cold. On the drive home, Mike and I talked about how we can make our next adventure even better. Next time, we'd bring more hotdogs and a Sleep n' Cuddle Wrap because it keeps baby cozy and warm through the night. My fabulous new sponsor, Butternut Baby, is giving one away to a random commenter on this post! The wearable baby blanket is made from very soft, high quality fleece and it fits over regular baby clothing. It is specially designed for warmth, comfort and ease of movement. The Sleep n' Cuddle Wrap allows your little one to crawl, walk and stand without confining their legs. A winner will be announced next week.

What is your camping must-have?

Sunscreen needs to be rinsed off, bags need to be unpacked and this mama needs a relaxing bath.

Happy Monday!

Loved this post, as always! I was going to say that you were brave as well! That is a lot of work for one night, but it will set you up for longer trips! Glad you had fun and your dinner and marshmallows look delicious!
