We strolled through Ottawa's ByWard Market on a gorgeous sunny afternoon. The open-air market is brimming with fresh produce, colourful flowers and beautiful artwork. I couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy towards my local farmer when I took that first sweet bite of a summer strawberry. It was so delicious, I bought three baskets of the tiny red fruit and decided to make some jam from an old fashioned recipe.
Step 1: Wash strawberries. |
Step 2: Boil, stirring frequently until jam is thick. Skim off foam. |
Step 3: Pour jam into hot sterilized jars and seal. |
