We're Jammin'

We strolled through Ottawa's ByWard Market on a gorgeous sunny afternoon. The open-air market is brimming with fresh produce, colourful flowers and beautiful artwork. I couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy towards my local farmer when I took that first sweet bite of a summer strawberry. It was so delicious, I bought three baskets of the tiny red fruit and decided to make some jam from an old fashioned recipe.

Step 1: Wash strawberries.

Step 2: Boil, stirring frequently until jam is thick. Skim off foam.

Step 3: Pour jam into hot sterilized jars and seal.
Shopping among the bright colours of strawberries and gerbera daisies made me more inspired for our upcoming summer holidays at the cottage for they will be saturated in even more brilliant colours, from lush green woods and lake water to orangey-red bonfires. I'm beyond excited for our first family vacation!

Henry's thighs are so chubby they have dimples!
It's time to put my feet up, enjoy an ice cold beverage and watch the sunset from our cottage dock.

Happy summer solstice!

  7. He is growing up so fast! Margie has those exact same overalls in blue. Is there any sugar is your jam...or is it simply just boiled/smashed strawberries?
