Father's Day, First Foods and other Fancy Festivities!

It rained on our anniversary, but that didn't stop us from celebrating. I painted my nails and put on a cute summer dress for the occasion. Mike tucked in his shirt and opened the car door for me. We were giddy because it was our first date night since Henry was born. We dined at Fratelli in the Glebe and commemorated our wedding anniversary with champagne. We shared the mussels before feasting on creamy pasta dishes. For dessert, we decided to walk to Truffle Treasures for some "sexy chocolate" gelato. Date night was wonderful, but it was nice to get back home to our happy baby. We were only gone for a couple of hours, but I missed those chubby cheeks! You can read our wedding story by clicking: here.

Our week in review:
  • Henry turned six months. He is currently going through a growth spurt. My boy, who usually sleeps through the night, has been getting up every two hours to eat. I am one tired mama. The good news is I lost three pounds this week. I have to say breastfeeding is the best "diet" I've ever been on!
  • Henry tried solids for the first time and he couldn't get enough. He loved his organic brown rice cereal and he thinks carrots are okay too.
  • We celebrated Father's Day at the cottage. We spent most of our weekend paddle boarding and playing some pretty competitive games of Scrabble.
To make Mike's first Father's Day special, I decided to throw him a stereotypical dad's day barbeque. Steak, baked potato and salad were on the menu. For dessert I made "burger" cupcakes from scratch to go with the whole BBQ theme.

My handmade banner of ties.
BBQ napkins to match.
 "Burger" cupcakes.
Handmade gift bags.
Henry's hand print ornament from Wee Piggies. Mike loved it!
This is the perfect time for me to introduce our newest sponsor Wee Piggies. Wee Piggies is an original home-based business concept created by a mom-for moms. Franchise Owner, Anne Lacelle Busing is offering a $50 gift certificate towards a custom-made shadowbox, ornament or lifecast statue of your child's precious hands and feet. A random commenter from this post will receive the gift certificate. I will announce the winner on my next blog post.

The Red Chair Kids $80 gift bag goes to Commenter #15, Robyn Metz:

"Looks like a beautiful shower! So creative. And Mr. Henry is getting so big!"

Congratulations, Robyn Metz on your win!
