During Lent this year, I decided to focus on a charity. Every week I used my family's weekly "fun" money from our budget and I purchased baby items for St. Mary's Home in Ottawa. My goal was to fill a donation box for the social service agency that provides programs for pregnant teens and young mothers. The donation box is overflowing with baby food, formula, diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, clothes, pacifiers and toys.
Pope Francis spoke from a window of the Vatican today, urging Catholics
to use the grace they received during Easter Sunday in their daily
lives. So, I've decided to continue to give back to my community. Money
is tight on my maternity leave budget, but when I heard our church
needed volunteers for a pancake breakfast fundraiser, I signed us up.
Helping others is so rewarding. It makes me feel good and it sets a good
example for Henry. Oh and despite not giving up chocolate this Easter
season, I'm down 8lbs since Ash Wednesday!
