Lent

Henry is my angel baby. I call him that because he's just so good! People are always surprised when I tell them I can take my newborn anywhere. Shopping and sushi are even becoming a part of our routine! He usually sleeps through church too, but during Ash Wednesday mass this afternoon he cried and wanted out of his car seat. He quickly settled in my arms, but sweat poured down my back as I tried to balance his chubby body on one hip as I waited in line for the priest to mark my forehead with ashes. Back at our pew, we were silently praying with the other parishioners when suddenly it sounded like fireworks were going off in his diaper. It was so loud! Thanks Henry...Did I mention we're new members at this parish?

My angel baby. Happy 2 Months Henry!!!
During Lent, I usually give up chocolate, but this year I've decided to focus on a charity instead. I contacted St. Mary's Home, which is an Ottawa based social service agency, that provides programs for pregnant teens and young mothers. Diapers, wipes, formula and receiving blankets are all needed. For the next 40 Days, I will be using our family's weekly "fun" money from our budget to purchase these baby items. My goal is to fill up a big donation box and I will drop it off after Easter.

  1. What a sweet idea for lent!
During Easter mass in a tiny wood church in Ross River with a visiting priest and just 9 or 10 of us, I'll never forget Abby letting out such a loud poop we all thought it was the sound of ice sliding off of the roof! Then we joked it was the evil spirit leaving her body.
